Wonder Twin Powers, Activate!
Dear Cole and Rhys:
Today, you are seven. I remember being seven. It was the year I wet my pants in front of my whole second grade class, something I know you are both too smart to ever do.
You are two of the strongest guys I know. Already, you’ve learned that life is a series of random twists. Things happen that we don’t expect, that we cannot explain or maybe even understand. Whatever life throws at us, it goes on. It takes us with it, or we choose to master it.
I already know you two are masters.
Today, I got out these videos we made the last time I saw you. I marveled at those teeth that aren’t there anymore. But, you’re still you. Cole, I laugh every time your Mom or Dad post updates about your latest ‘pet.’ I think a frog is just perfect. And Rhys, I love your creativity, your staunch sense of who you are, and of course, your art. May the number seven be lucky, the most special year of your lives so far.

Every time you send love to one of these little people I feel a longing in my heart, wondering what my life would have been had I had someone with your sense of empowerment sending me encouragement along the way. You are a gift to so many people, Andra…especially the little ones, I think!
