  3. It’s certainly food for thought. I’ve never written a novel, but my feeling is that the greats (such as Dickens, Shakespeare, etc ) created vast landscapes littered with so many characters, good and bad, that it is hard to imagine that each of these characters was not created with a clear purpose. I think this is why I haven’t written a novel – it’s too fucking difficult.

    • It is difficult, Roger. The hardest thing, for me, is trying to design the perfect house for a client I don’t know, to use an architectural analogy. I hope I’ve done it right this time.
