Share Your Goodreads Review on Amazon

If you've already read Not Without My Father: One Woman's 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace, THANK YOU. Books build a following because people take time to read and recommend them. In a book's early days, it's hard to convince anyone to read an unknown author. Most people have to hear about a book a billion times before they'll give it a try.

And now it’s time for me to nag.

I’m sorry.

I can’t stand to nag.

If you’ve written a review on Goodreads, please take less than a minute this weekend and transfer your review to Amazon. It’s a copy-and-paste process. If you have two minutes, you can also copy and paste it at Barnes & Noble, iBook and Kobo. I’ve provided easy links below.

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23436149-not-without-my-father

Weirded out by writing a review? No worries. Please leave a rating. In every internet discussion of this topic, readers say they pay attention to ratings. YOUR RATING MATTERS. It will convince someone else to give a struggling author a try.

In other news, MTM is Making a Memory this weekend by playing with this:

  1. I’ve already received 2 emails this week to tell me “your review helped another customer…” from Amazon. I copied my review from Goodreads last week.
    Hoping everyone reads your book.

    1. Author

I squealed when I saw yours on Amazon, Kir. Thank you for taking the time to do it.

  2. I already did a review on Amazon and Goodreads…so should I transfer my Goodreads review over to Amazon? Sorry, I want to help in anyway that I can…believe it or not, I’m very new to this. Also, loaned one of my books to a friend. She came in this morning and told me that she loves the way you right – as a reader she said she was captivated immediately! I told her once she finishes reading the book then to please leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads.

    1. Dang it! Loves the way you WRITE! Ugh – My job is to proofread and here I am…not proofreading. Crap!

    2. Author

I don’t know why Amazon (who owns Goodreads) cannot automatically transfer reviews from one site to the other. It’s such a pain in my butt to have to keep going back to people and asking them to do more things. But yes, you already put yours on Amazon, Lori. THANK YOU!!!!!

Please tell her I’ll send her a bookplate if she buys the book for herself. 🙂

      1. Andra, please excuse my idiocy…I have received the bookplate you sent me. What is it for? I’m sorry I don’t know.

      2. Author

If someone buys a paper copy of the book, they can stick the signed bookplate in the front to inscribe it, either for themselves or as a gift. I’m using them as an easy way to send personal inscriptions if people don’t want to go through the hassle of sending me the actual book.

        1. You’re awesome. Thank you. Funny story…I have your note on the wall in my office. 😉

  3. I will write the Amazon review as soon as I get Ed’s login/password (he bought the book on his amazon account for my(his) Kindle. Sorry it’s taken so long. This crazy travel and work schedule has me spinning.

    1. Author

I feel so guilty asking anyone to do anything. Everyone is swamped. I owe you a drink. You. Me. Atlanta. Soon. Please take care as you zip around. If you’re ever bored in the airport, give me a shout. xo

  4. I wouldn’t worry about asking. The folks who already did place on Amazon and Goodreads don’t mind. I can’t tell you how many times I have begged people for reviews and they never show up.(the reviews that is)

    1. Author

I just feel like such a freaking nag, like every time anyone sees me coming, they mutter, “Oh no. She’s going to ask me to do another thing…….”

  5. Already done did. 🙂 But, is MTM making his own furniture now? Or…

Oh wait, maybe that involves a shower?

  6. I think maybe Carnell hit the nail on the head….first thought that stuff looked like huge lasagna noodles, but I’ll bet it’s some kind of soundproofing material for your “recording studio.”

Stop feeling badly for requesting that folks write a review/give a rating/share a post on FB, etc. It takes an “independent soul” to recognize one; and, being that, I understand how difficult a pill it is to swallow if you’ve always been proud NOT to ask for help from anyone and then find yourself realizing there are some things you simply cannot do alone. Believe me when I say most of us are only too happy to give you a helping hand wherever/however, and it truly is very little to ask. Hugs.

  7. I’m embarrassed that I forgot to do this. So glad you reminded us. I wish it was automatic from Goodreads to Amazon.

  8. I have GOT to get my reviews done and out there. You’ve done so much for me, and I seriously intend to do it. I’m such a fucking perfectionist that I’ll write one and then sit on it because I might have three words wrong. To Live Forever has been one of my favorite books of all time, though, and I need to get that out there! And I haven’t read Not Without My Father yet, but it’s on TOP of my TBR pile.

  9. Done. Amazon.ca now has my e-mail address and a review of your book.

  10. You’re not a nag at all, Andra. In fact, thanks for the reminder that I can also post my Goodreads review to Barnes and Noble I’ll take care of that soon. It made my day when I got an Amazon email letting me know someone said my review encouraged them to buy your book. 🙂
