Meet a Character: Dad’s Mercury Grand Marquis

mercury grand marquis
The dynamic trio. Sorry. Dad’s blocking your view of the car.

I’m ending March in the back seat of a car. Dad’s Mercury Grand Marquis. He SAYS everybody wants it. He THINKS it’s hawt. And sexy. The envy of all people. Everywhere.

Inside the Mercury Grand Marquis.

And I just think about how many times he’s farted into the leather seats. And cracked the window. And blamed the non-existent paper mill for the stink.

But Dad’s prize got me from milepost 0 to milepost 442 on the Natchez Trace. It never sputtered. Didn’t fail to start. Always ran.

His Mercury Grand Marquis deserves
a character mention.
Because it’s part of DAD’S character.

  1. I concur. Machines take on personality and let you know when you’re being neglectful. They will also reward you at the most opportune times.

That car was very good to me on our trip. I shouldn’t be so hard on it………

      1. Well…I believe cars, trucks, and motorcycles are good judges of character and adapt themselves to the people they’re in relationships with.

  2. Cars are always excellent characters to meet. And you better be kind to them and speak nicely, they have feelings you know. And if you hurt those feelings you will regret it.

You would know. Is that why Katherine leaves you everywhere??? 🙂

      1. You are mean! So mean. She has never ever left me stranded. Never. Oh, and that is Catherine with a “C”. Puuuhlease….

Hahaha! That’s hilarious. Maybe those men just love an old man car.

  4. I always am cautious around Mercury Grand Marquis’. Not saying their dangerous but they sure are heavy and usually driven by a person in big sunglasses.

The driver would be my mother. She usually wears big sunglasses……

  5. I feel similarly regarding my bike…oh…wait…my bike blew a tire on mile marker 40 and made us turn back. 🙁 However, it made it 44 miles the next time. 🙂

  6. A mental image of Roy farting into old leather brought a smile to my face. 🙂

  7. absolutely. it, and your dad have an important place as one hell of an important team who helped get you through

  8. If those seats could talk! 🙂 Making memories in the Marquis should be your next book, Andra! I worry that my son will be like Roy (in the farting department).

  9. I bet it’s tough for you to type hawt and sexy about anything relative to your dad, but that is a cool car. Happy Easter and Happy April to you, Andra.

  10. Love the smooth ride of the Mercury! All the way from the East Coast to the Mississippi! A very cool ride indeed.

  11. Oh man, so true, Andra! I’m glad you mentioned your Dad’s car! It suits him.
