Happy Fourth of July to my US readers! What are you doing to celebrate?

Me?

I’m floating the Edisto River with Alice and MTM…and alligators and snakes and other crazies. I’m hanging on the back porch with Dad and listening to him regale everyone with his stories. I’m eating BBQ in my swimsuit and singing America the Beautiful. I’m blasting fireworks in a graveyard at sunset, because the dead like to celebrate holidays, too.

I’ve been following the same Fourth schedule for a decade or more. Every year, I can’t believe it’s happening already. When my toes sink into Edisto River goo, I think I was there five minutes ago.

Why do schedules go faster and faster?

The mid-point of a year is a good time to reflect. What’s working for you in 2016? What isn’t? Did you start the year keen to make a memory, yet it still languishes on your list of good intentions?

One of Dad’s favorite phrases is “It’s your knitting.”

So get to knitting the memories of your dreams!

If you missed my Friday post or my weekend e-newsletter, check it out HERE.

I was lucky to be included in a seriously cool summer reading list. To celebrate, we’re giving away a $225 Amazon gift card plus ELEVEN books. Multiple chances to enter through July 8, so follow the link and click to enter.

GOOD LUCK AND THANKS FOR READING!

  1. Deck time for us. Grilled meat, vegetables, and adult refreshments. Yep, it’s the country’s birthday, but my sister’s birthday, too. Have fun. Stay safe. Let that schedule slow down.

  2. Andra,
Just a ‘Happy July 4’ note to say I’m proud of you (and happy) for all your hard-earned success with your writing. I don’t get to see you and Michael as much as during our Gaillard project time, but know that I’m a big fan. You are the real deal!

I’ll be in Nashville again in August. Brentwood Library appearance. Hope to see you while I’m there!! And thank you.

  3. My cousins came down from San Francisco and stayed with us for a few days! We celebrated the 4th with Garrison Keillor’s last performance at the Hollywood Bowl Friday night, and then last night went back to the Bowl for a patriotic presentation with the Hollywood Bowl orchestra and Chicago. Lots of memories made…Your 4th of July plans sound delightful, too. ox

I was telling someone the other day how much you love the Hollywood Bowl and how often you take advantage of it. These both sound like perfect ways to celebrate the holiday. I’m glad to see you doing much, much better and getting out. xo

  4. sounds like a great routine – i had a relaxed pool party with the fam, enjoyed it )

  5. Hope you had a wonderful fourth, Andra! How are you doing? I had a great time at the family BBQ.
I don’t mind that I missed the giveaway. I’m just glad to comment! 🙂 Hope you’re doing well.
