Jen Mann is funny. I mean, seriously hurt-oneself-laughing funny. Her online rant about how much she hates Elf on the Shelf broke the internet. In today’s video interview, she shares how she uses humor to cope with life. Because let’s face it, humor is one way to process stressful situations.

I met Jen several years ago at a blogging conference. She was blogging royalty. I was starstruck. I’m fortunate she looked past my initial awkwardness and chose to be my friend. I see her whenever I speak near her home in the Midwest. A highlight of my life will always be watching the movie “Idiocracy” from her giant king-sized bed. Buy everything she writes. You won’t regret it.
Quote from Jen Mann: “The happiest people I know practice gratitude.”

About my essay
“A GARDEN OF PANDEMIC GRATITUDE LILIES”
I used origami to fight pandemic depression. My essay recounts how I thanked humans, famous and ordinary. Every day, I penned a letter of thanks, folded it into an origami lily, and mailed it. I hoped to lift a few souls, but I never expected expressions of gratitude to change me. For anyone needing inspiration to tell someone they matter – right now – before it’s too late.
