Oregon Library Association Conference

April 19, 2017 @ 8:00 am - April 21, 2017 @ 5:00 pm

The Oregon Library Association holds an annual conference in the third week of April to celebrate with, learn from, and give back to the library teams across the state who bring library services to the citizens of Oregon.

Andra will present “Library Programming that Entertains, Educates, and Inspres: how to Get the Most Out of Author Events.

Libraries are continually working to be dynamic social and educational community hubs, and an important tool for drawing patrons is to provide them with new experiences and exciting programs. Unfortunately, too often the wonderful opportunity for readers to engage with authors is squandered on disappointing events that fall back into the tired and tiresome.

Best selling author Andra Watkins is also a dynamic public speaker: in addition to motivational and educational presentations at conferences and corporate retreats, Andra frequently appears at libraries around the United States. She entertains, educates, and inspires library patrons without reading from a book or sitting at a table. Her programs are high-energy performances. Patrons laugh, cry, and think.

This OLA program will provide library professionals tips and tools for booking, promoting and hosting successful and dynamic library author events. In the same manner that she educates and entertains library patrons, Andra will drive the message home with a program that will convince you that author events can be a dynamic addition to your library offerings.

Visit the OLA Conference website for more info.
