Abigail Adams is probably my favorite First Lady. She wasn’t a traditional beauty, but her husband John never wanted another soul. While he traveled to Europe as French ambassador and served in multiple political positions in the formative United States, Abigail bore children, managed their Massachusetts farm and investments, and left a prolific cache of eloquent writing.
