Available NOW from Word Hermit Press A photographic walk of the 444-mile Natchez Trace with MOI as photographer, walker and guide. From March 1 to April 3, 2014, I walked the Natchez Trace, all 444-miles. How does a person fill the time when walking alongside a highway fifteen miles a day for thirty-four days? To stave off boredom and deflect pain, I took pictures. Of highway and sky. Of garbage. Of spring flowers. Of migrating birds. Of trees and fields and signs.

How does a person fill the time when walking alongside a highway fifteen miles a day for thirty-four days? To stave off boredom and deflect pain, I took pictures. Of highway and sky. Of garbage. Of spring flowers. Of migrating birds. Of trees and fields and signs.

I shared some here.
I kept some for myself.
I put the best together
as my love letter
to the Natchez Trace.

Wheels grease the path for the traveller, blurring the details of a landscape. Honoring when Life moved at the speed of footsteps, she documented the minutiae of forgotten traces of Time. Whether one drives or cycles the Trace today, these images will ease a traveller into a deliberate pace. This photographic collection is a gift from the Natchez Trace.

If I ever get to spend any time at home again, I’ll be happy to sign it. I’ve deleted everything else I typed in response.

  1. I can hardly wait for mine to come in the mail! I do have a question though…every time I tweet from your blog site the number never changes, yet when I try and do it again it indicates that I’ve already tweeted. Just curious….is it something I’m doing incorrectly?

Thanks for being among the first to order, Lori! You are just the best.

Much of the social stuff on my site continues to mystify me. I don’t know why the plug-in is doing that, and it frustrates me to hear you’re having problems with it. Since I made this change (which I HAD to make, no question), I’ve seen decreased sharing, commenting and engagement here. I’m not sure if it’s because the blog page is clunky to use, if it’s just harder to comment (several people told me that in person but they won’t say it here), or if it’s just the way of the internet these days. I spend a good chunk of time I could be working on book projects writing posts and queueing them up here, and it’s disheartening to even think about this trend. Maybe it’s just me, and few want to read the content I share. I know it’s harder to find now that I’m self-hosted. I appreciate everything you do to share my work, Lori. You are one of the best friends I have, and I’ve never even met you. xoxo

      1. I continue to tweet it Andra, I’m just frustrated that it isn’t counted so, perhaps, people are sharing and it’s just not being counted? Thank you for the compliment Andra. I believe in you and your writing with my whole heart.

  2. As soon as I get some money I’ll order! Looks great!

  3. i need to get my book signed later this summer….with a hug
