Join me in the Charleston County Public Library’s Main Auditorium on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 6pm. I’ll give a short talk about my epic walk of the Natchez Trace.
And Dad will be there.
You can see the best pictures from my Natchez Trace walk.
And Dad will be there.
I’ll talk about how walking 444 miles fundamentally altered my life.
And Dad will be there.
I’ll sell you a copy or several of To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Friends of the Library. I’ll even sign your books.
And so will Dad.
I’ll also give you a sneak preview of my upcoming project. It’s participatory. You can be part of it. It may even change your life.
Dad will be there to tell you it might.
So please plan to come to CCPL’s main branch auditorium for a little talk, a little inspiration, and a lot of Dad.

I wish I lived close so I could meet dad, errr, you.
We’re going to have to take Dad on the grand tour somehow, Pamela. As long as we can keep him supplied with a toilet and a television, he should be fine with it.
If not for a previous commitment that evening I would make the drive. Waiting for ‘Plan B” and also want to discuss your question about groups in Aiken, such as our Rotary Clubs, Historical Society and Kiwannis that are looking for presenters…RJV
Ray, is the email address associated with your comments the best on to use to email you?
Affirmative.
Yay for jet lag!! I’m up and will email you right now.
Yes, but will your dad be there? And MTM?
I know I will be there!! And I will probably make faces at you while you speak.
I’ll sit next to Carnell and put devil horns behind his head with my V sign.
Carnell actually said he was bringing a Nerf gun……TO SHOOT DARTS AT ME WHILE I TALK.
way to lure in the audience with this hard to resist tease )
Dad is hard to resist. That’s for sure.
Would have loved to be there!
Part of my coming Grand Tour Plan doesn’t put me quite in the Chicago area, but St. Louis is close-ish, right?
Can’t wait to hear about the ‘beyond the Charleston area’ reader option !
I’ve got to wait for my contact at the library to get back from vacation to see whether what I want to do is possible. I don’t want to promise and not be able to deliver.
ooh…I think I know what you’re shooting for. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Sounds like the time to meet your Dad and learn about you walk.
I really just want to see everyone. I wish I could just walk around the room and talk to people instead of presenting. I mean, I don’t mind presenting one bit, but it carves into my face-to-face talk time.
I hear you.
Would love to be there and support you, but, our Club has our Installation Banquet that evening. I’ll let Devil Boy Carnell fill in for me and make all the cwazzzzy faces.
You didn’t mainline enough Rotary in Sydney? 🙂 I’m teasing. I know it’s that time of year for a lot of clubs. I wish we still did our installation at night instead of during a meeting. The nighttime event makes it more special.
It’s pretty cool to watch this evolution from afar, even while feeling, in a very small way, a part of it.
You’re bigger than a small part, Jim.
Wish I could be there!
Sorry to have been gone for so long. We were without internet for two weeks and then I traveled to the US for nearly another two. So glad to be home in Cuenca again!
Hugs from Ecuador,
Kathy
We are talking about attending next year’s Rotary Convention, Kathy. If we do, a visit to you and Sara will be part of the trip. We’ve been to Sao Paulo and feel like we’ve seen it, but I’d go to the convention to get somewhere else in SA.
Ditto what Pamela Beckford said. 😉
I don’t know where you are, Ally, but maybe you’re somewhere close to the coming planned Grand Tour.
Wish I could be there!
I wish you could be, too. But Lisa and I have something in the works for September that will definitely include meeting you.
Oooh fantastic!!!! I hope it’s during the first 2 weeks, though, as I’ll be in France the last 2. XO
Aw man, I’m way too far away! Otherwise I would be there with several illustrious friends. But none of them would hold a candle to your Dad.
No one holds a candle to Dad.
I will get there. I know I will, but until then I wish you a room filled with admirers…for both you and your Dad.
You know you have a free place to stay any time, Lori. 🙂
Oh a chance to get Roy’s autograph? Lucky Charleston residents. 🙂
If more than two people ask for his autograph, he will crow about it for the rest of his life.
I’d be there if I could but I’m looking forward to hearing more about your new project. 🙂
Your quadrant of the country is definitely on the planned Grand Tour, Lisa. Probably won’t happen until the new year.
How exciting!
Would love to see you (again) and meet your Dad; but, as others have said, I’ll have to settle for waiting on info about the new project. 🙁
If we can get the online option to work, I’ll let you know, Karen.
Katy and I are excited about your presentation and plan on being there. If Carnell gets out of hand I will hug him several times. That ought to distract him some. LOL
Hahahaha. Whatever he does, you hug Carnell A LOT.
I will sit close so that I can. I know he is giddy with excitement now. LOL
Wish I could , Hi Dad.
Oh, to be there. We shall be months too late, but I shall check out the public library. All the best for the 24th.
A chance to meet the legendary Roy Watkins? Man, I wish I could be there!
