If you or someone you know is in New York State’s Hudson River Valley, please support Magpie Bookshop in Catskill. I’ll be at Magpie this Saturday, October 18, from 2 – 3:30pm.
Kristi Gibson, the owner, is even setting up a sheet so that I can show my Natchez Trace walk photos on a wall. We’ll have wine and nibbles, and I’ll give an unvarnished account of my Natchez Trace walk. (Because the blog posts were heavily varnished, people.)
A link to Magpie’s Facebook event is here:Β https://www.facebook.com/events/1482923571986389/
Or, if you’re really a star (and you’re ALL stars), you can invite someone you know in the area personally. Personal invites always impact people more than Facebook (a tip for all you other writers out there.)
The funniest thing to come out of all this? Me. On the same newspaper page as this man……the one on the left……..
It was funny enough when I got into Yankee Magazine, but being on the same page as NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo is tickling my diehard Southern heart.

north and south! north and south unite!
Ha. I’m doing my part.
Cuomo?? I don’t have my glasses on, but that looked like Jerry Seinfeld in profile. Wine and nibbles can become tipsy and dinner with a bit of ambition.
Eli, wine and nibbles usually becomes dinner for me at these things. It’s gluttony, not ambition. π And yes, it is Cuomo.
Heck, I can turn the freebie tables at Cosco into lunch in a pinch. It’s ambition if it truly is lunch; it’s gluttony if it happens after we’ve already had lunch.
I see now that it’s Cuomo, but you have to admit, if you look at him by profile, and squint … looks like Seinfeld!
He does, Eli. You’re absolutely right. π
You’re not the only one who turns that place into a buffet. I don’t know why they don’t do wine tastings that way…….
Oy! The company you keep.
Ah well, it could have been Spitzer or Mark Sanford, I suppose.
Save me from ever being on the same page as Mark Sanford……….
Well, there you are, Andra; above the fold next to the Cuomo. π
I don’t know how much anyone pays attention to these listings, but everything is important in creating buzz.
What a fun situation to find yourself in: on your way to a book soiree AND sharing a newspaper page with a Governor. How much better can it get?
I just find these things amusing. I feel out of place.
I can understand how you might feel that way, but you’re there on that page so I’m saying that you’re in the right place with the right company! Very amusing, indeed.
Wow! That’s so exciting!!!
It’s interesting (and exhausting) learning the back-end of publicity.
Yep, you’ve definitely arrived! π Enjoy your trip and all that it entails.
Karen, to be truthful, I feel like I’m galloping backward on a runaway horse that’s intent to clothesline me on a tree branch.
But that’s right now. I talk myself out of that feeling every five minutes.
Oh, the mental picture that conjures!! π π
You’re gonna be fine. You’ve worked hard, and I know you’ll continue in that vein, so enjoy the payoffs that are sure to come.
Scrapbook material.
If I kept scrapbooks. I still keep travel scraps.
I hope my far(ish) north Yankee brethren treat you well.
They always do, Dina.
Be careful. Yankees are tricky
I’ve met tricky people everywhere, John. π
